This vintage Turkmen (Turkoman) cuff bracelet was handcrafted during the early to mid-1900’s for the nomadic tribes of Turkmenistan along the old Silk Road in Central Asia.
This is old Turkmen tribal jewelry and not a new replica.
With its clean lines, sturdy construction, and vibrant red beads, the 2-band style of this cuff is characteristic of the Ersari Turkmen sub-tribe.
Red beads are said to not only invigorate, but when shaped like eyes, they are believed to ward off the evil eye. Stylized claws on the terminal ends are also a traditional Turkmen jewelry treatment, intended as additional protection.
